Photo Sharing

I'm not much of a photographer. I shamelessly let my wife take all the pictures and deal with the hassles of carrying a camera, keeping it charged up, and taking care of the images. Every now and then, to address her entirely legitimate concern that she's never in any of our pictures, I'll take the camera from her and snap a few pictures with her in them; then I hand it back and she gets to continue doing all the work.

Digital photography, in conjunction with cheap storage and fast downloads/uploads, certainly makes managing images easier. The ability to pass photos through email, simple as that is, is a great connection tool in our family. The most important internet tool for managing photos in my immediate family is Facebook - it's fun to look at albums of pictures that family members have put together.

I've looked at Flickr over the years. Reviewing it today was fun. I like their "interesting" promotion; there certainly are some cool images out there. And it's fun to do a search on random tags and see what pops up. Someday I'd like to get around to posting some of our interesting pictures on the web, but I have lots of someday projects!

I do have occasional need for images for cards, flyers, other documents. So far I've generally been satisfied just to use a Google image search, but it may be more interesting to search within Flickr or other photo websites. But depending on what I'm using them for, I should pay attention to copyright concerns!
