Podcasting

And it's on to Podcasting, the 5th week topic. Podcasts are easy to download and listen to (I've mostly downloaded audio-only podcasts), and there are a ton out there, many that seem very interesting. But I don't use an MP3 player, which restricts me to listening to a podcast on my computer. I spend lots of time on the computer, but time spent just listening leaves me restless and unsatisfied, so I don't generally listen to podcasts at the computer.

I've wanted to start using an MP3 player for two years now, to listen to music as well as podcasts when I'm exercising or driving, but I've never gotten around to it. It's partly that I'm intimidated about using headphones or earbuds when I'm exercising, but mostly a matter of procrastination. It's particularly silly when I consider how much I've learned to enjoy listening to books while I'm driving, and that I'm almost out of audiotapes for my old car. (I can't bring myself to justify buying a new car just to get a CD player!) Oh well, one of these days....

This week's assignment also introduced me to Netvibes. I signed up and linked my Facebook and email into it; for some reason it wouldn't take my Twitter account. It might serve nicely as a homepage for me, but I wouldn't want to make it public - it shows too much. I'll be playing with it some more in the next few weeks.
